The sense of community is one of the best things about UNE. Yes, there are perks to working here (full benefits, local business discounts, free access to the on-campus gym, etc.), but the overall engagement and passion of the UNE community is what gives me a reason to work here every day.”

Life in Southern Maine

The Way Life Should Be

Southern Maine offers a captivating blend of natural beauty, cultural richness, and economic opportunity, making it an ideal place to live and work. Those who call Maine home take pride in its diverse offerings, from the bustling arts and cultural events of Portland to the serene calls of loons on inland lakes.

The sights and sounds of a working waterfront campus contrast with the swish of skis on freshly fallen snow, and the nearby attractions of Boston. With a reasonable cost of living, abundant outdoor recreation, and a thriving food scene, Southern Maine captures the heart and imagination of residents and visitors alike. Living here means never running out of things to do, yet still finding peaceful corners for quiet reflection.

Portland

As Maine’s largest city, Portland is a historic and creative hub known for its food, arts, and working waterfront.
